Mirror, Mirror

We moved into a new house a few months ago, and while I certainly wouldn't call it a 'fixer uper', it did need some major updating. Major! And for the record, I would never, ever do this again. Having a few projects along with a 3 year old and 1 year old is doable, having a project HOUSE and those two, it's mental anguish. Focus on the word mental. I'm a basket case. Please help. Not kidding.

I thought I'd post a few before and afters as I finish certain things.

Below is my wall o' mirrors in the dining room. I'm embarrassed to post my inspiration for this wall because a) It was more than an inspiration, I flat out tried to copy it and b) I did a very poor job of copying it.

But here it is anyway, because it's my most favoritest decor blog ever and I want to live in her house.
Vintage Revivals (droooooool)

I think I will add more mirrors as I get them and paint them. I was able to pick up all of these mirrors over the past several months at thrift shops, garage sales, estate sales and antique stores. A fresh coat of spray paint later and done. I'm kinda on a mission to not buy anything brand new for this house. There are a few things I will buy new (like rugs) but overall, I'm trying to REPURPOSE!

I chose this wall to attempt to *ahem* duplicate the Vintage Revivals wall of mirrors because of the very oddly and annoyingly placed thermostat. Just off center, but totally preventing the hanging of anything centered on the wall. So, it's not perfect, but I'm hoping that with so much to look at, your eyes are not automatically drawn to those ugly but necessary things. Or are they more drawn? Especially now that I pointed them out to the world? Ah, who cares. I love it.

  1. Cute! I didn't even realize it had a thermostat there until you mentioned it....so I think it was successful.
